Diversity & Inclusion

2008 - 2010 Operations Leader, Differently Able Global Constituency Group (DA GCG), Merck & Co., Inc., Whitehouse Station, NJ, USA

In this international leadership role for Merck & Co., Inc.,
I helped manage a team of 20 Merck leaders to develop diversity programs and recommendations for the Merck CEO and Executive Committee as part of a company commitment to provide a diverse and inclusive workplace. In addition to helping give diversity & inclusion a face and a voice within Merck, I used my networking and lobbying abilities to successfully build a global network in support of a proposed CAM (Complementary & Alternative Medicine) strategy for Merck in emerging and traditional markets, significantly impacting the way Merck thinks about CAM to help support business objectives. The company’s clinical trial program now includes Rx/CAM interaction studies. This leadership experience has made me comfortable working in a global, multicultural setting, connecting with key players in diverse markets and on all corporate levels.

In recognition of my work for the DA GCG, which contributed to Merck’s #8 ranking in the 2009 DiversityInc Top 50 (up from #21 in 2008), I was twice nominated for the Merck Diversity Award.
